Since 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta has supported the advocacy work of CASA for Children, our international philanthropy. We share CASA’s belief that all children have the fundamental right to be safe and to be treated with dignity and respect. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA volunteers) work with children who have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect. A CASA volunteer provides a voice for the child in the courtroom and in the community.  We give to CASA in many ways: as thoughtful advocates, committed volunteers, and generous donors. As individuals and as a fraternity, we say: I am a Theta. I am for the child™.

Founded in 1960, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a charitable and educational tax-exempt organization. Theta Foundation’s mission is to secure and manage resources for the educational, leadership, and philanthropic programs of the Fraternity and for the scholastic, professional, and service pursuits of its members to help them reach their fullest potential and make a difference in the world. Awarding more than $1 million annually, Theta Foundation stands as pillar of support for Thetas and a partner in the Fraternity’s educational and philanthropic efforts.  Theta Foundation supports Thetas with scholarships, non-degree educational and leadership grants, and the Fraternity’s educational and leadership programs.

Established in 1926, the Friendship Fund has been a tangible demonstration of the love and concern we feel for one another. During a period of need, the care, love and support demonstrated by a Friendship Fund gift has made all the difference to hundreds of Thetas. The Friendship Fund provides gifts to Thetas experiencing extreme financial hardship due to serious or terminal illness, job loss, natural disaster, and other devastating occurrences. One very important aspect of the Fund is the secrecy surrounding the giving of gifts. Two members write on the behalf of a sister, and the Friendship Fund committee determines the award amount.

Theta Dodgeball
Eta Mu monetarily supports CASA of Los Angeles as well as National CASA by hosting an annual Dodgeball tournament! This is a campus-wide event open to all- alumni, friends, and faculty. Each team pays an entrance fee and is treated to an entire afternoon of food and entertainment. In the past, we have received overwhelming support and donations from our community from campus musicians to local food vendors to nation-wide companies. The prizes for the winners are plentiful and the atmosphere is incredibly exciting. Theta's Dodgeball has become an Oxy tradition and one that we are excited to continue in the years to come!
